Actions underway in Italy
Master of food
Faced with the diversity and overabundance of the offer of food products in stores, the consumer is easily lost. Between the proven and claimed nutritional benefits, the ingredients that are denounced and the origin of the product, a consumer who wants to make the right choice is pulled in all directions. So, because an informed consumer is a better consumer, the L. Bonduelle Foundation in Italy has launched the Master of Food programme.
On the menu are theoretical-practical workshops aiming to make adult consumers more aware of the choices that they are making when they buy a product. There are lots of different sessions, during which Italians can sample the products and discover traditional agricultural and culinary know-how, the phases of production, the raw materials that go into the products and the cultural and social values associated with these foods.
Pensa Che Mensa
It is a programme that aims to improve the quality of the food proposed in collective catering circuits (school canteens and hospitals). All the different parties concerned are invited to meet to discuss the quality. The parents can give their opinions about the canteen and play a part in improving the menus to make them healthier and tastier. The teachers are put in charge of educating their pupils about food. The nutritionists and catering staff complement each other in their approach to the food they offer: both nutritional and gastronomic.
And a mini-guide has been created to sum up each party’s role.
