Vegetable garden: growing lamb's lettuce

To grow in optimum conditions and get nice leaves, a temperate climate is a must. Seedlings take place between August and October, outdoors and in rows. Harvesting takes place 3 months after planting when the rosettes are well-developed. It is absolutely necessary to harvest before the lamb’s lettuce blossoms.

Lamb’s lettuce can be affected by diseases such as rust (appearance of brown spots on the leaves due to the presence of a fungus) and powdery mildew chews (a fungus that causes the appearance of a white coating on the leaves). Subsequently these diseases cause a slower growth of the plant, which can even lead to the death of the latter. A typical autumn and winter vegetable, lamb’s lettuce is not only a vegetable but also a leaf.
