Vegetable garden: growing pepper

Seedlings start in March in pots in greenhouse (temperature should not be lower than 20°C). When 2-3 leaves have grown on each seedling, pull out the smaller one and leave the bigger one to grow in the pot. Harvesting takes place from end of June and through to the first frosts.

Pepper can be affected by the powdery mildew if the leaves are too wet (a fungus that causes the appearance of white spots on the leaves). Subsequently this pest causes a slower growth of the plant, which can even lead to the death of the latter. When watering, avoid wetting the leaves too much. A typical summer vegetable, pepper is not only a vegetable but also a fruit.
